Meet EVE

Cait Alexander

I’m a survivor of near-fatal domestic violence, and I founded End Violence Everywhere (EVE) after experiencing the unthinkable—my own attempted murder. I created EVE because I wanted survivors to have somewhere to turn when the system fails them. Splitting my time between Los Angeles and Toronto, I lead EVE with determination, working to inspire others and create a safer, more compassionate world.

As a versatile actress, singer, model, and composer, I’ve been fortunate to grace global runways, star in major TV shows and films, and work in Hollywood and Bollywood productions. With a BA in Theatre from York University and a music degree from Berklee College, I live each day balancing advocacy and artistry with a big heart and fearless leadership.

Alex Stout

I’m Alex, a recent graduate of McGill University with a BA in English (Cultural Studies) and minors in Communication Studies and Art History. Creativity is my passion, whether it’s writing, design, fashion, music, or art. I thrive in spaces where I can explore my vision while contributing to meaningful causes.

Having managed anxiety and OCD from a young age, I’m deeply committed to promoting mental health awareness and supporting those facing similar challenges. I’m inspired by EVE’s mission to empower women and end all forms of violence, and I’m dedicated to creating a world where women feel safe, valued, and supported by a compassionate community.

Jennifer Kaplan

Hi, I’m Jennifer Kaplan, a Toronto-based Social Worker with over 30 years of private practice experience. I’m currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Yorkville University, focusing my thesis on The Emotional Concussion. After graduating from Columbia University’s School of Social Work, I centered my research on resilience—a theme that continues to inspire my work today.

I’m a certified EMDR practitioner following Francine Shapiro’s original protocol and a member of EMDRIA, where I volunteer for humanitarian efforts. I’m also certified in Stephen Porges’s Polyvagal Theory and developed my own emotional resilience protocol, I Am Here.

Licensed in both New York and Canada, I specialize in trauma recovery, focusing on the lasting effects of violence. Mentorship is a passion of mine, and I’m dedicated to developing skilled trauma therapists. I also analyze dreams through my podcast, Dreamwork by Jennifer Kaplan™, sharing my expertise with a wider audience. Outside of work, my greatest joy comes from my two adult children, who inspire me every day.

Mark Walton

I’m Mark Walton, an Irish musician and music executive with a passion for songwriting and production. Back in 1993, I co-founded Boyzone alongside Louis Walsh, helping shape the band’s early development before moving on after about a year. Since then, I’ve built a career in the music industry, working with bands like Fifth Avenue and collaborating with Red One Productions on projects featuring some of the industry’s leading artists.

In 2018, my name was linked to a tragic criminal case involving the murder of French nanny Sophie Lionnet. My ex-girlfriend, Sabrina Kouider, and her partner were convicted of the crime, and I testified during the trial, expressing profound sadness over the misuse of my name. Despite this difficult chapter, I remain proud of my contributions to music and continue to pour my energy into songwriting and creative projects.

Peter Laneas

Hi, I’m Peter, and my life is all about resilience and connection. As a two-time testicular cancer survivor, I turned my personal challenges into a mission to inspire and support others. After my second diagnosis, I became the first national spokesperson for Testicular Cancer Canada (formerly TCTCA), raising awareness about this often-overlooked illness. I was also the first co-leader of the Localife program in Toronto for Young Adult Cancer Canada, creating community for young adults navigating cancer.

Beyond cancer advocacy, I’m passionate about inclusivity. I broke barriers as the first LGBTQ+ survivor featured in the Princess Margaret Home Lottery campaign. Globally, I support testicular cancer patients through social media and mentorship. Now, as a board member of EVE, I’m committed to addressing intimate partner violence and making a difference for vulnerable communities. My journey has been one of hope, connection, and tireless dedication to helping others thrive.

Charles Alexander

I’m Charles Alexander, and I’ve always balanced my passions for sports and social change. As a AAA hockey goalie and a Team Canada Olympic rower, I’ve learned the value of discipline and teamwork. These lessons carry into my career in tech-focused real estate, where I combine strategic thinking with a results-driven mindset.

Beyond my professional and athletic pursuits, I’m deeply invested in exploring how men can take active roles in ending gender-based and racial violence. I believe in using my platform to inspire others and drive meaningful change in communities affected by these issues.

Jeremiah O’Brian

Hi, I’m Jeremiah O’Brian, a transformational coach, entrepreneur, and educator passionate about helping people and organizations reach their full potential. As the CEO of Emerge Global, I draw on international experience to provide tools, strategies, and resources for growth and success.

I believe true success comes from uplifting others, and my mission is to guide individuals and teams to overcome challenges and thrive. Whether I’m coaching or contributing to EVE, I’m dedicated to fostering positive change and supporting others in their journeys.

Manu Shandal

I’m Manu—an accountant by training but a healer at heart. I help people avoid being burdened by excessive taxes and uncertainty about retirement. One of my biggest disappointments is that schools don’t teach the basics of money management, so I created my YouTube channel, Sweet Money, as both education and catharsis.

I’m a US and Canadian CPA with over 20 years of experience in Fortune 500 companies, and I’m just as busy ensuring my four kids put their dishes in the dishwasher! Don’t let life’s stresses stop you from reaching out for tax, accounting, business, and strategy advice—I’m here to help.

Ish Van Der Rassel

My name is Ish, and I’m from North Bay. I work in the Marketing department at Canadore College as their Content Expert, after serving as the Student Governor. I’ve worked extensively with all levels of government to support NPOs and community organizations.

I’m proud to serve on the Board of Directors for OutLoud, a non-profit organization providing safe spaces and support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community and vulnerable youth. Previously, I represented Métis youth on the North Bay Métis Council, ensuring their voices were heard at community and provincial decision-making tables.

As EVE’s Government Relations & Community Outreach Advisor, I’m dedicated to building relationships and amplifying survivor voices to advance EVE’s vision. I’m here for you.

Hayley Schwartzberg

I’m Hayley Schwartzberg, a criminal law professional with a strong academic background and a passion for justice. After earning my undergraduate degree from McGill University in 2020, I completed my legal studies at Queen’s Law School in 2023. Now based in Toronto, I advocate for clients and tackle complex legal challenges with precision and empathy.

I’m also deeply committed to social justice and animal welfare. As a lifelong dog lover, I support animal rights organizations and shelters around the world, from Toronto to Salem, Massachusetts, and Koh Lanta, Thailand. I’m proud to advocate for survivors of IPV and SA, and I work to create a safer, more just world for people and animals alike.
